It is essential that a computer system is set up by experts. During the preparation stage of a project, QLC can ensure a sound plan for efficient data processing.
On-site guidance enables direct interaction between researchers and the archaeologists from QLC.
QLC can coordinate the flow of data during an archaeological project, thus avoiding annoying surprises later.
QLC is specialised in the processing of archaeological data.
In some instances it can be important to have certain information available during the project. In most cases QLC can ensure the required data is directly available. QLC provides a more in-depth analysis of data for certain projects. This includes, for example, GIS analysis. All information is, of course, in a clear and modern format, according to the wishes of the client. QLC has in-house knowledge of a wide range of software packages, amongst others;
DATABASES: Foxpro, Access, Dbase, Mysql, SQLserver, Oracle;
GIS-(like)ANALYSIS: Autocad, Surfer, Mapinfo, ArcGIS.
Besides the software package ArcheoLINK QLC also makes tailor-made solutions. These can be client specific modifications to ArcheoLINK, but also completely newly designed modules and tools based on the client’s specifications.
In some cases, existing software packages don’t meet the client’s needs.
QLC has the necessary skills to modify existing programmes and, if necessary, to write an application for specific problems.
QLC uses the programming languages SQL, C++, .NET and Delphi, to write and modify software applications.
In order to acquire and process data without problems, it is extremely important that the correct hard and software are available.
Every situation demands specific resources. In some cases a ‘simple’ desktop computer is sufficient, in others a complete network may be desirable. Expert advice can be necessary in choosing computers and other equipment used in the field.
QLC can give advice on the hard and software necessary for all kinds of archaeological projects.
Hard and software have to be installed and maintained in the correct manner. Carelessness and unexpected, inconvenient computer troubles can cause major problems which can lead to serious delay or even loss of data. The archaeologists from QLC can take care, to a certain extent, of the installation and maintenance of computers, equipment and software, on site.
